Arne chuckled as he saw the pile of spears, and dismounted. He grabbed a spear to replace the one he'd given to Valka, and took another two for Sirs Cedwyn and Rodric. Then it hit him. Twenty great spears? There were only ten Saxons here. And the other spears are used by mounted Saxons. Where are they? He looked again at the Saxon ships, and did a mental calculation of how many men each of them would carry.
Muttering a Norse curse, he grabbed the three spears and waved at Valka, indicating for her to follow. He led his horse over to where Sir Cedwyn was, and saw the knight examining a small chest full of coins. "Sir Cedwyn, perhaps we should see to firing these ships and move on. I am no coward, but think on how many Saxons landed here. If they see the fires from the first two, they may come back here to see to the safety of their own ships."
