   C. Homeland
   D. Culture & Religion
   E. Your Lord
   F. Current Class
   G. Equipment

6. Other Data

Personal Data

HOMELAND, CULTURE, RELIGION
All initial characters are from the Homeland of Salisbury, were raised in a Cymric culture, and are either Christian or pagan. You could chose a different culture, but you'll need some reason to be living in Logres and a desire to sight the Saxons (be it for honour, revenge, or money). Your character will start in Salisbury, in the employ of Earl Rodrick.

Other Cultural (Religion) options:
Want to be a hard-working, mainstream guy?
?play a Cymri (British Christian / British Pagan)
Want to be an aloof, condescending snob?
?play a Roman (Roman Christian)
Want to be a determined minority, not quite trusted by most folk?
?play a Saxon (British Christian / Germanic Pagan)
Want to be an entertaining, friendly foreigner?
?play an Irishman (British Christian / British Pagan)
Want to be a scary foreigner?
?play a Pict (British Christian / Heathenism)
Want to be a sophisticated, very fashionable foreigner? [Sir Lancelot was an Aquitainian]
?play an Aquitainian (Arian Christian)

FATHER?S NAME
Choose a name to be your character?s father?s name.

I need the following rolls:

Father's Class: 1d20
Family Wealth: 1d20

Based on that, and your choice of religion, we'll move on to the next steps.

I think I'll be Irish (it's my island)  8)

Father's name would be Aballach

Father's Class rolled a 16
Family Wealth netted me a 7

Reason for being in Logres...knight errant, second son of a minor lord having to make my way through life by force of arms and faith in the Lord God (British Christian).
The sinister, landless, lord-less, fortune-seeking Hibernian random-hunter.

Your father is the Irish equivalent of a landed knight, with an ordinary net income of ?6-?8 per year.

Second son is too close to inheritance to be a mercenary (heir, space, extra), so you'd need to be a third son or father away. Typically third son would be sent to the clergy, but if that life did not suit you, you'd become a Knight Errant, wandering the world seeking to make your own way. You father was a vassal knight to a Irish lord, and died recently. Your oldest brother inherited. He may not entirely unsympathetic to your plight, but there is only so much he can do even should he want to. Regardless of his like or dislike for you, your brother has certain obligations, and so provides you an allowance of ?2 per year, which is enough to survive, but it is certainly not a great living. You would be considered a poor knight.

Having heard of trouble and much fighting in Britain, you made your way there to find your fortune. You ended up in the Kingdom of Malahut, the realm of Herault d'Apres, the Centurion King. However, you were never able to gain an audience, and have been languishing here ever since.

Your father, now dead, did see somewhat to your future, and you were given the following items:
Cuirbouilli armor and helm (8 points);
Shield (6);
Sword,
5 spears
dagger
War pony
Sumpter

Barely able to feed yourself and mounts and maintain your equipment, you certainly have no money to spare for a squire.

Irish (British Christian)
Chaste* 13/7 Lustful
Energetic*+ 13/7 Lazy
Forgiving 8/12 Vengeful
Generous*+ 13/7 Selfish
Honest 10/10 Deceitful

Items marked with + are Knightly traits. If the total sum of those traits is 80+, you gain a chivalry bonus of +3 to armour.

Note that traits are on a sliding scale that always adds up to 20. So, if you increase Lustful by one, you must reduce Chaste by one.

Regional Modifications: Apply the following modifiers to the above.

Ireland: Lustful +1, Energetic +1, Honest +2, Indulgent +2

Individual Modification:
- Choose one Trait to start at 16, if desired.
- Finally, add total of 6 points to any Trait or Traits desired. Put them all into one Trait, or distribute them between up to six others, or any way you desire. However, no trait can be made greater than 19.

to get 6d6 damage, STR + SIZ must equal 33 to 38;
to have a decent chance of surviving wounds, CON should be at least 11.

These aren?t rules, but suggestions to increase the chances of survival for your knight

Individual Modifications

Note the following limitations:
? No skill or combat skill may be raised above 15 by these individual skill points.
? No Trait can be raised above 19 by these individual skill points.
? No Passion can be raised above 20 by these individual skill points.
? No attribute (i.e., SIZ, DEX, STR, CON, APP) can ever be raised above racial limits.
? No skill with a beginning value of 0 or ?―? may be augmented, except for combat skills. Hence, for example, no male character can have a Fashion skill when starting play.
? Individual skills can be augmented by several of the several steps below. For example, a default Cymric knight in the Uther Period starts with a Hunting skill of 6, but at Step 3 this can be raised to 11, then at Step 4 it can receive 4 more points to bring it to 15.

Knights
The rules here are repeated from King Arthur Pendragon 5th ed., pg.. 29?30.
1. Choose any one combat or non-combat skill at which you excel. Make it 15. (A weapon skill is a popular and useful choice.)
2. Choose any 3 non-combat skills, and make each of them 10.
3. Raise any four scores from among the Traits, Passions, or Skills.
     - If you raise a skill or combat skill, then it increases it by up to 5 points.
     - If you raise an attribute, trait, or passion, then it increases by 1 point.
4. Add 10 more discretionary points, to be divided in any amount among any number of non-combat skills of your choice.
5. All other skills start at the default values.

Family Skills:
Roll 1d20

This will be a skill for which your family is known.

Luck
Roll 1d20

This is a bonus inheritance or some such that you get.

Starting Glory
Roll 6d6+150

There may be more.

Your family is known (in Ireland) to be great readers. Add +5 to Read (Latin).

You have been given a great heirloom of your family (a mark of your father's affection perhaps, or that of your brother - maybe it was a gift when you left the clergy? Maybe you found it?  Up to you. You're free to sort out how you got it, and what effect it has on your relationships.

Torch of Saint Brigit: It lights upon your command, and cannot be put out except by you, or your death.

*****************************

Distinctive Features:

Based on your appearance (APP), you have one distinctive feature. I'll let you pick, but here are some suggestions:

Hair (very long, curly, red, crew cut, blond, excessively hairy, huge beard, prematurely gray, glossy, balding, a particular cut, etc.)
Body (slouched, barrel-chested, hunchback, finehaired, tall, thin, broad-shouldered, high-shouldered, very muscular, burly, squat, smooth skin, etc.)
Facial Expression (bright-eyed, proud, sneering, haughty, nice smile, hidden by beard, straight teeth, dour, cheerful, squint, piercing glance, etc.)
Speech (lisp, stutter, charming accent, basso, sharp, nasal, shrill, squeaky, musical, loud, soft, strong, thick accent, etc.)
Facial Feature (patrician nose, scarred, darkly tanned, black eyes, bushy eyebrows, deep-set eyes, high cheekbones, red and weather-beaten skin, braided beard, big ears, long mustache, small nose, facial blemishes, birthmark, etc.)
Limbs (short legs, bulging biceps, one arm longer than the other, rough hands, long nails, hairy arms and hands, bow-legged, flabby, big feet, long fingers, etc.)

*****************************

Previous Experience

You start at 21, with the skills, traits and passions we've covered. However, you have the option of ageing yourself. You may take up to five years extra experience.

Each additional year of age provides a character with any two of the three following benefits; you may not choose the same benefit twice for the same year.
? Distribute 1d6 points among the character?s skills. No non-weapon skills with a starting value of 0 may be augmented, and no skill may be raised above 15.
? Add 1 point to any trait (to a maximum of 19) or passion (maximum 20).
? Add 1 point to STR, DEX, CON, or APP. No stat can be raised to a value greater than the maximum possible for a character of that culture.

With reading so high, you would have been well-schooled. Your father would have had a scritorium on his lands, and employed scribes. Your accent, if you wish, could be non-existent.

Just to make sure it is noticed, I modified the above post with the results of taking three years of aging.
