Not necessarily. Mercenaries often work without standards or coats-of-arms.

I should've asked earlier.  Regarding the 20 sets of war gear we took off the Saxons . . . is that "war gear" as defined by the PH on p. 158?  If so, does that mean that it doesn't include armor and weapons (other than the lance and spare sword in the description).  And if so, will each set of war gear require its own horse to carry it (again, as per the description of war gear)?

No, I mean armour and weapon. War Gear is something else, and not a concern until you have a body of troops. That's tends, wagons of provisions, that sort of thing.

Rouncies (6):   200 d. each = 1,200 d. total
Basic tack and harness (6):  16 d. each = 96 d. total
Arms/armor (6):  taken from Saxons (no cost)


Young warriors (6):

Up to her though. You guys might not even see combat - that depends on what the Earl (and the King) does.

Nothing short of Freya would keep her from the battlefield now, how do I go about finding a nanny IRL as easily as she can?

I remember not rolling too well on starting gear but I don't recall what horse type she had. Does the armor type reduce other stats or do you just gain? I have hardened leather at start and not sure if that's what the "stolen" gear would be and if I should request something else or not.

(and yeah I need to finish up the winter skill increases)

Edit: I chose the rouncy and gear at start and then the luck rolls put in the sumpter and the ship income. No idea if the sumpter is in addition to the rouncy or substituted and neither do I know if it matters

We need a better title than "aid." I doubt we'd call them squires, but "aid" just sounds meh

I'm sure there's a good nordic word for squire.

I just put down aide to define them as separate from the others.    If we wanna go Norse, then perhaps Sven (or Sven av vapen).  It's a medieval term for squire.
