Spear skill: 3+5 for Cedwyn's battle advantage = 8
Die roll:  14
Result:  Failure (no, do tell . . .  :P)

(OOC:  I have no access to this game's die log anymore, so I had to create my own die log.  Also, is the Centurion King's squire not getting involved?)

[OOC: The squire is a squire, and expected to support knights. Knights are expected to do the fighting.

In an unrelated note - I have done Sir Cedwyn a disservice. The others have seen it before, but this would be the first time Artaigne would have seen it. Sir Cedwyn's horse is a magnificent giant. Artaigne has never even heard of such an animal. Huge, powerful - easily have again as large as Artaigne's own mount.]

Arne is unable to get control of his spear, but his armour absorbs the damage. Artaigne, while getting his spear into position, lost his grip and the weapon slips from his grasp. Cedwyn and Rodric get their spears into position, but their opponents deflect them and score hits of their own, though the armour and shield absorb he damage entirely. Of the five of you, only Valka manages to score a hit against the charging Saxons, though it is only a glancing blow.

However, Sir Cedwyn's tactics held true - you held the line, and broke the Saxon charge. That now finds you in close quarters, stirrup-to-stirrup with the Saxons.

[OOC: You guys are too close for spear work now, so it's swords and axes time. Can I get combat rolls from everyone please? No bonuses.]

Note: Since you are fighting stationary, you'll be using personal damage codes, not those of your mounts.

With a battle cry from the depths of Cedwyn's lungs, the knight drew his sword.

"Taste Witchbane! Saxon dog!" He bellowed.

[Sword Skill: 18. Die Roll: 12. Success. damage Roll: 17 (5d6).]

Arne dropped his own spear, grateful to be shed of the unfamilar weapon, and ripped his own sword clear of the scabbard with a joyful roar.  "For Thelamark, you pigs!  Choke on your own blood!"

(Sword skill:  15  Die roll:  1  success!  ;D  Damage roll: 21 on 5D6)

ooc:So the odds of this happening are ridiculous, just so everyone knows that this dice roller really does hate me.

Valka traded spear for axe and swung at the Saxon with wild abandon, nothing but an ear-piercing shriek emitting from her lips. She was less trained in the barbaric sharp-edge, swinging it like a tool rather than a weapon.

Ooc:
Valka axe roll (1st time using axe!)
1d20 <= 6
14 ... failure

CharacterRollOpponent Roll   OpponentResult
Arne11Mounted Spearman   tie, no damage
ArtaigneFumble3Mounted Spearman   take (18-14) 4 damage
Cedwyn123Mounted Spearman  inflict (17-12) 5 damage
Rodric17FailMounted Spearman inflict (20-12) 8 damage
ValkaFailFailMounted Spearman no damage

Arne and his opponent clash swords, the ringing echoing over the battlefield. Artaign draws his sword, but looses his grip on it, and the weapon goes flying. He is unarmed when the saxon lands a blow with his own sword. Sir Cedwin and Sir Rodric both land significant hits on their opponents. Rodric's looses his seat, and falls to the ground, though his armour absorbs the concussion of the fall. The horse, now uncontrolled, moves away from the battle. Valka and her opponent both seem unfamiliar with their weapons, and each of their swings fails to connect in a meaningful way.

[Actions?]

Also recall that rounds are much shorter, so things like movement and drawing a weapon take place instead of an attack.

if Rodric wishes to swing at the downed Saxon, he is at +5 effective skill to do so. The saxon won't be attacking as he has to stand back up.

Behind you, the Preator's squire draws a sword and urges his mount forward, with the intention of giving it to Artaigne. (Because the Squire made is squire roll, Artaigne can take it as a free action and still attack.)

Status:
Arne: 26/26
Artaigne: 24/29
Cedwyn: 29/29
Rodric: 28/28
Valka: 28/28

Also, in case it comes up... if your effective skill is 21:, you roll as if it were 20, but take any excess and add it as a Bonus to the die roll. Any result of 20+ is a crit.

So, for an effective skill of 22, you would roll 1d20+2<=22, and any result 20 or more is a crit. In effect, you cannot fail, and have an increased chance of rolling a critical.

Cedwyn saw his Saxon overbalance on his last pass. He took the opportunity to feint deep and pull back for a sizable bite out of the man.

This time. Cedwyn offered no words; only the grunt of effort and the grit of his teeth as metal met metal and flesh and bone.

[Rolled a 5 on a skill of 18. Success. Damage roll is 14.]

She wanted to take out a sizeable chunk of the Saxon but her axe was not cooperating.
