OOC:  The die log site's giving me grief even at home.  Could I get a proxy roll from someone vs. Arne's Intrigue and Hunting skills (assuming Arne would be allowed on the hunt)?

Rodric wasn't surprised that they were delegated to the back as it were, but he was surprised that more of the goings on weren't making there way to them.  The King must be keeping a really tight rein on who was aware of what was going on.  But when he heard that the Duke wasn't home, that sent ripples of concern throughout him.  That did not bode well.  Unfortunately, his investigative skills were quite pitiful and he wasn't able to glean any useful knowledge.  He did however look forward to the hunt.  Hopefully it would become an opportunity to impress the King and Earl.

Cedwyn found the trip dull so far...little action and little glory. And much less loot. Still. Politically it was wise to be here. He tried his hand at investigating the goings on to see if he could learn anything but got little more than the gossip he had heard.

When hunting expedition was announcing, Cedwyn came alive. A chance to be out and doing something. However, his luck there was worse. He missed a couple signs (uncharacteristic of him) and every arrow or javelin he tried missed or broke. Perhaps he was letting his frustration get the better of him.

[Intrigue was a 9 on a skill of 6. Hunting was an 18 on a skill of 11. Dicelog hated me today.]

The group of you split and head into the woods, each supported by peasants and dogs from the Duke's manor. After an hour, you hear the baying of hounds elsewhere in the forest, but Rodric, Cedywn and Arne have not found any spoor as yet. Valka, however, has managed to pick up a trail, and is actively pursuing prey.

Cedwyn and Rodric both pick up a trail, and they and their borrowed hounds are racing through the woods and fields. Valka, however, seems to have lost the trail. She and her hounds are milling about trying to find where the beast they had been after went.

Arne, however, unexpectedly startles a flock of birds. They started his horse, and Arne is nearly thrown from the saddle. He manages to stay seated, but the horse has become jittery, and it takes constant effort to keep the horse moving where Arne wants to go.

Arne's next hunting roll will be at -5 skill due to the failed Horsemanship roll. Cedwyn and Rodric are on the trail. We are now two hours into the hunt.
