How long would it take to remove leather armor from one of the Saxons?

Yeah, farther upriver.

Have the Romans had time to get there?

No, you're probably looking at another Saxon camp.

Removing the armour would be a couple of minutes.

So would the whole hate Saxons passion come into play here...i.e., they can't wait to sneak up and have to charge and kill now?

Forced actions only really come into play once your passion or trait hits 16.

How hard would it be to sneak up? I'd like to force an engagement that uses a natural chokepoint so we can bottleneck them.

Also...had another idea:

We ride a loose charge down to them. Ample spacing to make it look like we're definitely not charging as a group. Force them to split apart a bit. If we see them hold, we merge our charge towards an outer grouping. If they solidy their wall, then we break off the charge and see if we can entice a few to come after us.

You could split, but given their numbers, tactically speaking, they are going to turtle. However, these seem like the same quality of troops you faced last fight. Even 10 of them are not going to be much of a challenge if you get a charge in.

You could split up and try to surprise them, but that means no charge, and you may be spotted - knights on horseback are not very stealthy.

Another option, I suppose, would be for some of you to charge, while the rest go on a flanking move, but that seems riskier than putting everyone into a line and charging.

If you get good battle rolls and everyone is successful, you can charge through them, then come around for a second charge. If someone fails their attack, though, they'll get hung up and may get swarmed while you set up the second charge. But if you're going to set up a second charge, you're kind of committed going in.

Good battle rolls, as in the Battle skill? Cuz I'm confident I won't roll a success on that :p

I don't know what Craig meant then.

When engaging in a skirmish (which this is) the commander (in this case Cedwyn) rolls  a battle roll, which determines initial conditions. If he manages to set up another charge, there may be a second battle roll, and so on.

Generally, only the commanders of a given side make battle rolls.

As Cedwyn has the highest Glory, according the Cymric tradition he is the ranking knight.
