So, any suggestions? Ride out and try to find him? Wait for a bit?

I'm all for trying to pick up local scuttlebutt in this city's bazaar (that is, if it's not in the Forbidden City part) and see if anyone says the Kings is actually out of town.  If we hear nothing, then we can make a decision as to whether or not we should stay or go look for him.

Any application in which I could use my music skill to help with rumor gathering?  I am guessing it would be below my status to hit up the local inn and play for the 'common folk', but is there any place where people of higher rank might gather and want a song?

The knights eat in the great hall, generally, and there's usually a few hanging around there. Some music to pass the time in that space would not be out of place. I'll have to figure out something for skill chaining (using one skill to get a bonus on the skill you really want to use). I'll need a little time to work out details.

However, in general, "softening up" the targets of your intrigue should give some sort of a bonus.

No posts from me this long weekend starting this evening; I'm headin' outa town and I probably won't have computer access.  I'll be back Monday evening.

As good a place to start as any.

Just need to know if we can get bonuses from other skills or not.  Craig, if your still not sure, or are thinking about devising a system to make it work, then I would say for now lets stick with using the base skill only and we can visit that as we go along.

Ok, so assisting:

Similar to what we did with Valka helping orate rolls, you can use a related skill to earn a bonus with a different skill. There needs to be some logic behind it. For example, you can use flirt on a potential sexual partner to make applying Intrigue to them easier. If you make your Flirt roll, you can get a +5 to your Intrigue skill.

Artaigne could go to a public house (or the great hall), soften up the crowd with music or something like that, and thus get a bonus to Intrigue in the same way.

So, in general you can take extra time, and use a related skill (adjudicated on a case-by-case basis) to get a bonus to the skill you really want to use.

I would hope Rodric could use his flirt skill in a more innocent fashion. :)

Rolls are done, I'll copy them into the IC thread once the group has moved into the market place.

Flirting roll result 11 vs skill 13, success.  Intrigue roll result 12 vs skill (with +5 bonus) 8, failure.

I foresee a lot of PCs getting better (relatively speaking) at Intrigue over the winter session. :)

You'd think at least one of us would fluke it.  Guess it's all up to Valka now, no pressure.

No kidding...right now you could walk up to me and tell me that you were going to go right now to kill my liege and I'd probably think you were joking.

Unless, of course, you were a Hibernian random...

Since we're going to a Tavern, I went with singing for assist. Apparently I didn't need it :)

Valka Intrigue 8+5 for singing success
1d20 <= 13
7 ... success

Valka Singing
1d20 <= 10
10 ... success

Damn, that's some pretty kick ass karaoke. :P
