Damage and Injuries
« on: February 28, 2017, 04:01:51 PM »
If you take a single hit greater than your CON score, you have sustained a major wound. You immediately roll 1d6 to determine the specific attribute you loose if any. You can then make a 1d20<= [your current hit points] to remain conscious. If you do remain conscious, you can attempt to take actions, but run the risk of worsening your condition.

Your Chirurgery Needed checkbox is immediately checked. You are considered unhealthy, and cannot effectively care for yourself. You must receive the care of a physician quickly. Once you are under the care of a physician, that doctor may make a chirurgery roll once per week to see if they can stop your condition from worsening. You must remain under care until at least half your hit points have returned, or risk deteriorating again.

While you are unhealthy, any activity beyond bedrest had a chance to worsen your condition, cause infection, etc.

So, Arne must enter the care of a physician before the week is out. If he does anything other than rest, his condition may worsen. He may, in fact, be unconscious for weeks, depending on his rolls. Travel is not often restful in this day and age. Trying to get him home could be dangerous to his health.

So, options.

Throw Arne over a horse and return him to camp: -2hp
Drag Arne on a sledge behind a horse back to camp: -1hp
Carefully carry Arne in a litter, on foot, taking ~4 hrs to get back to camp: 0hp
Travel from war camp to Eburacum: -1hp
Travel from Eburacum to Lincoln: -1hp
Travel from Lincoln to Sarum: -1hp
Travel from Savrun to Fault: -1hp

Arne will get 3 hp per week of rest, on Sunday noon. For every week he does not have a successful chirurgery roll on him, he will loose 1d6 hp on Sunday noon. He will stay that way until he reaches 13 hit points, or reaches zero hit points. If he reaches or goes below zero hp, he will die by midnight that night unless extraordinary methods are used to save him. As his hit points go up and down, his consciousness level may vary.

Or . . . save one of the Saxon ships and use it for transport?  Or is the camp too far away from the river?

Just so everyone is on the same page - you could spend lots of money, resources and time on healing Arne, and he still may die.

I just want everyone to be aware. This is a feature of the game. As a generational game, death is part of the play - each of your characters will die at some point, whether by the blade or illness, or the slow decay of time, and you will start a new character.

If Arne dies, he starts a new character - perhaps another warrior from his people or a different one, and we move on.

Whatever happens, take a lesson from this - be aware of your HP when you go into battle. But even if you are careful, death may still find you.

Boating is generally smaller craft. Longships are a different ball of wax.

I thought you had 14 going in?

And the HP comment applies equally to mid-battle. :)

Nope.  Arne was down 3 HP from max when he went into this particular battle.
