The Irishman nodded at the request of the Northlady and made ready to follow her at her leisure.
The sinister, landless, lord-less, fortune-seeking Hibernian random-hunter.

Sir Cedwyn does not have much luck, moving through the camp trying to buy a cart. He does find one grubby man with one eye willing to sell him what smells like an old manure cart for the princely sum of £5. No one else will even discuss selling anything to Sir Cedwyn, so it is £5 or nothing.

Valka and Artaigne move through the camp. You both draw a few eyes as you go through, and more than a few leering glances, but Artaigne does a fairly good job of holding himself in such a way that those with leering expressions decide it would not be worth the trouble, and you are mostly unmolested. In about an hour, Arne has been returned to the camp, and Sir Rodric's body has been made ready for the return journey to Lindsey.

[Anything else before you guys depart? Corey, your choice if you want to buy the cart, but that's the best you could do.]

[A manure cart for £5? No...and further hell no! :) We'll tie Rodric down on his horse and pull Arne on the sledge. But we'll try to find a cart along the way...perhaps we can buy one in Eboracum?]

In the pre-dawn hours, a messenger arrives with a letter, sealed with the Praetor's symbol. It guarantees you safe passage and hospitality within the borders fo Malahaut.

It is a cold day with a constant, light drizzle falling when you ride out of the camp. Sir Rodric is tied over the saddle of his horse, and Arne is secured to a rough sledge dragged behind Valka. It is slow going - picking your way through the swamps, and trying to avoid rough terrain that might cause further harm to Arne. But with perseverance, you head towards the old Roman city of Eboracum.

It is only some sixty miles, but you are not making good time, so it is early evening on the third day before you arrive.

By the time you arrive, Arne's condition actually looks a little worse. He's still stable, but being dragged over the terrain on a two-pole sledge has not a gentle trip.

You have the Praetor's letter to get you through the gate and into some lodging.

Cedwyn turned to Valka.

"Mayhap you may will have better luck here than I did in camp. I recall you made friends here. Could you scrounge up a cart for us?"

He handed Valka a bag of silver pennies approximating 2£.

Valka nodded and accepted the bag. "The cart is for Arne so we will of course reimburse you. Meet at the inn? This may take some time. "

Ooc: I don't know how much coin we carry tbh. And I don't remember if it's an inn :p

[OOC: You could stay at a public house of course, and it would be relatively cheap. However, the Praetor's document guarantees you safe conduct and hospitality within his lands. That obligates his people to provide for your needs when requested. You could be housed with the Praetor's knights quarters for a time. The letter makes it clear you are to leave the kingdom, but a stay of a day or two should be fine.]

[OOC: These sorts of rolls are typically Courtesy. However, there are other options. You could use Orate if you wanted to plead the case of helping a fallen knight. You could also use Flirt if you wanted to try that angle and see if you could sweet-talk the price down. You could even use Singing to try and charm someone with your voice and earn a favourable price.

Bottom line (and this goes in general as well), if you make a case for using it, you could theoretically use any skill for this: gaming, intrigue, awareness, even weapon skills for contests of strength or feats of arms. You could use any skill, but you'd have to make a case how it would apply or weave a credible scenario you might find in such a place, and there may be an RP component involved.]

[Ok thanks. Valka will go with Orate and tell the tale of her fallen lord and injured husband, killed and injured fighting against the Saxons for the Praetor. And how the travel has made his health worse, that he has not woken for many days.]

Valka finds the crowds generally unimpressed by the fate of a knight from Logress. But her tale of her wounded husband did seem to engender a little sympathy, but little aid. Finally, Valka finds an older man with a somewhat noble bearing. He expressed sympathy for anyone who risked their life in service to the Praetor, and sold Valka a study foru-wheeled cart and a part of scruffy but serviceable nags for a hundred denari - a very reasonable price, that includes tack and harness and some blankets and an awning.

Valka returns a couple of hours later driving a covered 4-wheeled cart led by a pair of broken-down horses.

[Account for the hundred denari among yourselves please.]

Transportation secured, Arne's trip home should be much less injurious.
