Battles
« on: June 24, 2014, 02:19:55 PM »
Ok, here's a quick-and-dirty on how I understand battles to work (preliminary notes).

It's all about Intensity. Lower intensity is better (for your side). There is battle intensity and unit intensity.

Intensity is determined by a starting factor (generally 20), relative unit strength, how well you do in individual combat, where on the battlefield you are, terrain factors, random events, etc.

Your commander (Sir Amig in this case) will make a battle roll, and based on your intensity will have various options open to him. He decides which option to take.

Your unit may do very well, but the battle as a whole suffers major reversals. Conversely, your unit may be getting pounded while the rest of the battle is going well.

Battles are chaotic, you may get separated, unhorsed, etc. A knight separated from his unit determines his personal intensity from that point on.

There will be waves of personal combat throughout the battle, depending on intensity, battle rolls, and which opportunities Sir Amig takes.

I initially had you guys hand your men over to someone else. That was incorrect - your followers will be with you in the coming fight.

Ken, you can pick one of your men to squire for you just for this battle, unless you make other arrangements. They won't be as skilled as a true squire, but they might save your butt.
