Do servants retire, or do they get dismissed when they're no longer physically able to perform their duties?

Yes. A well-loved servant may receive a pension or stipend, but generally they will rely on their family to care for them.

I know it's not necessary, but are there any courting or proposal customs?  I skimmed through the book but didn't see anything.

And what's the cost of a typical wedding?

Weddings are up to you, and range from a small, private affair handled in the manor with the father of the bride and your squire, all the way to a grand feast (with the costs associated with a feast). As marriages in this age are matters of business, there's no expectation that there would be a huge feast or anything, but it would count as conspicuous spending if you had one, and you would gain 1 glory per ?1 spent.

From out of nowhere, Haydn appears with a carafe of wine.

[Cedwyn makes a mental note that he seems to appear from nowhere with startling regularity.]

Who are you?!

I'm BATMAN!  :P

More like Alfred. :) Always doing things that the boss never even notices. :)

I'm waiting for him to sneak up behind me and yell, "NINJA!"

She is 28.

Also, there's a correction I need to make. I was mistaken - she does not have vassals. All four manors are in her direct control. She has no vassal knights.

So you would not be a bannerett, but you would have the direct income of 5 manors if you did marry her.

I know the breakfast is more informal, but is there any etiquette as far as seating or greetings etc go?
