Sir Cedwyn,
I trust this letter finds you in good health, and that your construction plans are proceeding without incident. I thank you again for your kind invitation to feast at your manor. It was a pleasant evening, and the feast did you credit.
I recently received a letter from our Earl. He chose to write me to discuss your qualifications as a knight, which he assured me at some length were considerable. He also advised me to give any suit you might propose the benefit of his good opinion. I must admit, though your interest in my daughter was known to be through her confidence, I was not particularly moved by your entreaty the next morning.
However, in light of the Earl's recommendation, I have decided to reconsider.
I therefor offer you the hand of Ysbail in marriage, along with the sum of ?5. If you are in agreement, I would be pleased to host you and whatever guests you wish at my manor for the Feast of Pentacost, when vows will be exchanged.
May God bless you and keep you.
Yours,
Marvin [signed in his own hand]
