Letter from Sir Marvin
« on: July 11, 2015, 01:13:13 PM »
Sir Cedwyn,

I trust this letter finds you in good health, and that your construction plans are proceeding without incident. I thank you again for your kind invitation to feast at your manor. It was a pleasant evening, and the feast did you credit.

I recently received a letter from our Earl. He chose to write me to discuss your qualifications as a knight, which he assured me at some length were considerable. He also advised me to give any suit you might propose the benefit of his good opinion. I must admit, though your interest in my daughter was known to be through her confidence, I was not particularly moved by your entreaty the next morning.

However, in light of the Earl's recommendation, I have decided to reconsider.

I therefor offer you the hand of Ysbail in marriage, along with the sum of ?5. If you are in agreement, I would be pleased to host you and whatever guests you wish at my manor for the Feast of Pentacost, when vows will be exchanged.

May God bless you and keep you.

Yours,
Marvin [signed in his own hand]

Penned by the scribe Siam as dictated by Sir Marvin

[ooc: I take based on this letter that Ysbail is interested? Do I have access to a scribe as well? It wouldn't do to send my own letter.]

Cedwyn read the letter with great interest. So Sir Marvin was moved to offer his daughter's hand. He sensed the Earl's hand in this more than the letter implied. Roderick could be very persuasive. Was this the fruits of loyalty?

Sending for a scribe, Cedwyn began to scribe notes for a letter.

Dear Sir Marvin,

God's blessing upon you good Sir. Indeed your letter found me well and in good health just as I trust this letter finds you as well. Construction proceeds apace with great alacrity. It was a fortunate harvest as well; God's grace has shone on Winterbourne Stoke this year. I am grateful for your attendance at my feast; I was honored by your presence.

I am honored by your offer of Lady Ysbail's hand. You are most generous and I accept.  I will join you at your manor upon the Feast of Pentecost.

Cedwyn would spend some time with the letter whilst he waited for a scribe. The rent from Peredur would easily be sufficient to cover the cost.

[OOC: You have a lettered servant that serves as a scribe. It's not calligraphy, but certainly sufficient for communication purposes.]

[ooc: then I use him to write the letter after it's prettied up a bit. Anything else on that front? I assume I will have time to see Ysbail at the next feast.]

[OOC: Possibly. I hadn't planned any more RP this winter, except maybe the weddings.]
