Your column diverts towards the hamlet, splitting to cover both objectives. As you approach you can see what appears to be a granary in the village. The group that is heading towards the church catches the glint of treasures within.
Most of the villagers scatter or hide, but one group or about a dozen or so position themselves to block your access to the village. Similarly, another ten have formed a line of bodies between you and the church.
These are clearly peasants and farmers. They are unarmed, and pose no threat to you or your forces. There are a few women among those blocking your advance.
As you get closer, they start yelling at you in what sounds like the Saxon tongue. A couple throw rotten vegetables and refuse at you, but they land short. You can see they have more such ammunition at the ready. There does not appear to be a leader to this rabble.
[Actions?]
Who went to which location? The church and village are far enough apart that you'd have to split your column to advance on both places. You're far enough away at this point that the things they're throwing can't hit you, but the threat is obvious - come closer and you'll have muck and rotten vegetables thrown at you.
There appear to be supplies in the village, including grain, and the church appears a good candidate for plunder.
