More background:
This is a time before chivalry. There is a knight class, but the rule of the land is not might makes right - it's might -IS- right. It is a brutal time, where loyalty and valour are prized and rewarded. Chivalry is not introduced until Arthur takes the throne and eventually becomes high king. Romance currently doesn't exist - that enters the world with Guinevere. It is a brutal time, with much conflict where death can come rapidly and without warning. Even during the "Golden Age" of British ascendance and the rise of Camelot, there are battles to be fought and foes to be slain.
You must know going in that your character will die - whether through violence or disease or old age. Your heirs will take up the mantle, so expect to be generating at least two characters as we go through this. The campaign goes from 10 years into Uther's reign through the rise of Arthur and the British conquest of Europe through to the fall of Camelot and some time beyond, covering a period of some 85 years. Your character will age, marry, have heirs and die. But you will then take up play as the heir, inheriting the lands and equipment of your father.
Each game "turn" is divided into a summer and winter phase. Summer is for battle and adventures, winter is for domestic responsibilities and training. Typically, in a given year you will have a single adventure.
