A giant! She hadn't known giants lived outside her homeland. And they look about as fierce as the lore says they are too...

Valka grinned at Arne's battle cry and sped forward herself.

[OOC: Ok, first actions - let me know if I have this right.

Arne [Valour Success] readies his axe.
Valka [Valour Success] draws a dagger and moves forward 3 yards (5 more to go until in range).
Cedwyn [Valour Success] draws sword and moves forward 3 yards (5 more to go until in range).
Rodric [Valour Success] takes his shield from Suger and readies it.

That's first actions. Rounds are 1 second long, so every action takes one round.

If everyone can confirm that's what they want to do, I'll post actions for the giant, and we'll move to round 2.]

A giant! The Northmen tell tales of their great heroes making war with giants! Arne, readies his axe, preparing to do battle. Valka, with either bravado or an overabundance of courage, draws her dagger [!] and rushes forward. Cedwyn does the same with his sword, and Rodric, aided by his overly-prepared squire, straps on his shield, all the while calling out the Giant.

The Giant, seeing two warriors closing, ignores the taunts of Rodric. Reaching over, it rips a smallish tree easily the size of Valka's torso from the ground in a shower of dirt and leaves.

[Actions?]

Remember, one action at a time. Valka and Cendwyn are still 2 moves away from the giant, though it's likely to move this round.
Arne, Valka, and Cedwyn have weapons ready. Rodric can draw his sword as a free action and still move 3 yards.

Arne's eyebrows flew up in alarm as he saw Valka charging the giant with naught but a dagger.  Raising his great axe high over his head, he rushed the giant with a keening yell, hoping the noise would distract it or draw its attention away from Valka.

Cedwyn continued his approach. Angling to get on the right and watching it get the tree ready.

"Mind yourself and try to stay behind cover." Rodric said to his squire before drawing his sword and rushing to catch up with the others.

It would, of course, be Valka's luck that she would end up flattened by a tree the size of herself. She wasn't sure what the gods would say about that other than maybe laugh. That made her decide to pull down her shield from her back and ready it just in case she wasn't limber enough to escape the lumber.

Arne rushes forward, close on the heels of Sir Cedwyn. Valka pauses a moment to ready her shield. Sir Cedwyn eager for battle, moves closer to the giant, and Sir Rodric, shield now in place, draws his sword and moves toward the creature.

The giant, tree in hand, moves to intercept Sir Cedwyn, Battle is joined.

[Actions?]

Cedwyn and the giant are within melee distance. I need a Sword roll from Sir Cedwyn.

Arne, Valka, and Sir Rodric are all 4 yards from the giant, so they need at least one more move to get within combat distance.

Following his lord's orders, Suger is trying to stay behind cover, though he looks like he very much wishes to close with giant.

Arne continued to close with the giant, but was careful not to get in the way of either Valka or Sir Rodric.  A lot of good they would do if the three of them collided with each other before reaching their foe!

OOC:  Still closing, but coming in at the creature's left.

Cedwyn came at the giant roaring a battle cry.
Part of him wondered what Haydn was up to but the lad was intelligent and thoughtful so Cedwyn trusted him to be doing something clever.

Rodric continued to close the distance.  He was concerned that Cedwyn had already engaged the giant while the rest of them still had to close, but Cedwyn's skill with the sword was exceptional so he would trust his friend's actions.

[OOC: Continue to close.]
